George Pearse house

George Pearse's house, 'Lilburn', was at what was then 18 Queen Street, on the NW corner with High Street. It was from that house that his funeral cortege departed in 1914. It was also from that house that his first wife's, Eliza's, funeral cortege had departed in 1898. (Me married again in 1902.)

West Australian, Monday 17 January 1898, page 4:
The Remains of the late Mrs. GEORGE PEARSE will leave her late residence, Queen-street, Fremantle, at 4 o'clock, THIS (Monday) AFTER-NOON, for interment in the Church of England Cemetery, Fremantle. Friends will please accept this intimation. ARTHUR E. DAVIES.
Western Mail, Friday 28 January 1898, page 33:
PEARSE.- On the 16th inst., at her residence, Lilburn House, Queen-street, Fremantle, ELIZA, the dearly beloved wife of George Pearse, age 54 years. Deeply regretted by her sorrowing husband and family.

Daily News, Tuesday 30 June 1914, page 5: obituary—
THE LATE MR. GEORGE PEARSE
By the death of Mr. George Pearse, senr., Fremantle has lost one of its most respected and oldest citizens, he having been born in the northern suburb 74 years ago. The long funeral cortege moved from his late residence, 'Lilburn,' Queen-street, Fremantle, and proceeded to St. John's Church, where a service was conducted by the Rev. Canon R. H, Moore,. assisted by the Rev. E. S, Clairs. ...

[I assume 'the northern suburb' refers to North Fremantle?]

It's curious that Lilburn was also the name of Lionel Lukin's very early property in North Fremantle. He, Lukin, named it after the captain of the ship on which he arrived.
