Eastwinds Reunion Show

If Australian multiculturalism has a name in music, Eastwinds could well be it with its members originating from far-flung corners of the globe: Estonia, Japan, Iran, Australia, and England. The resulting rich tapestry of sound, from old and new worlds, draws on traditions from Scandinavia through the Balkans to the Middle East all driven by a keen devotion to improvisation. Call it world music, Scand-Iranian Balto-Klezmer or perhaps just call it: a new geography of sound. There's certainly nothing quite like them in Australia.
Eastwinds delighted audiences before prior to lead singer Kristiina Maalaps' move back to Estonia. Taking the rare opportunity of having all six members back in the state for a short time, this show will be a joyful reunion where the band will recapture the magic. Every show is a journey into the unknown and this one will be no exception.
Dine in before the show ... Trybooking.

Community Games and Activities Morning

WEDNESDAY MORNING IS GAMES MORNING AT FPC
Every Wednesday 9:30am-12:30pm
Games Morning is an inclusive opportunity for people of all ages and abilities to participate in a variety of games to keep our brains active.
New games such as Sequence, Zilch, and Catan may appeal, or there’s always more familiar games like Rummikub, Scattergories and Backgammon or even Sudokus or brain teasers.
There’s also the opportunity just to grab a cuppa, sit quietly and maybe have a chat — or just to do some drawing or colouring in with the resources we provide.
Whatever be your choice of games — or none — we offer low-key, supportive energy and — most important — we aim to have a good laugh.
So, put Wednesday Games Morning 9.30-12.30 at the club in your diary.

Ukulele Rabble

The Ukulele Rabble started life about fifteen years ago with half a dozen or so beginner ukulele players at the X-Wray cafe front verandah (now the Market Bar). We tried a few other venues before moving to the North Fremantle Bowling Club, where the Ukulele Rabble gathered every Friday afternoon from 3pm. Now that venue is no longer viable, the Rabble have now found a new home at the downstairs bar of the Fremantle Park Centre. There is no official membership or level of ability. All welcome. There are about 250 songs in a couple of books, which you can share by sitting next to someone who has one, and download from an email once you have decided to make it your regular Friday afternoon. You just turn up with a ukulele and a wish to have a fun afternoon and sing a bunch of songs you may or may not have heard before. There is no official finish time but a lot of them start packing up at 5 pm. Maddy.
