Fremantle East Ward until 1923

There were six wards in the local government area called the 'City' of Fremantle until 2023. There is no longer an East Ward — which within High, Carrington, South and Solomon Streets plus a couple of extra bits. In it were the suburb of White Gum Valley, Boo Park, and some bits of Fremantle suburb including one bit that borders East Fremantle. That's the bit that contains Gibson Park.

East Ward contained Booyeembarra Park, one former church (Assembly of God), one school (WGV Primary), one huge netball space (Frank Gibson Park), no handy shops except in Minilya Avenue and on its perimeter (one is a Liquor Barons outlet), some crafts studios (Stackwood and the Fibonacci Centre, more to come), three or four coffee shops/lunch joints, and an alarmingly increasing number of medium-density dwellings (the former Beazley School site and the 'Knutsford' and 'East Village' estates), with lots more to come. Not to mention two! golf courses - one 'public' and one 'private', and part of a very busy highway/truck route which is now twice the size it was.
I put 'public' and 'private' in quotation marks, because the public is not allowed to walk on the public golf course unless playing golf. I got escorted off it once by a Basil-Fawlty-like managerial type. And because I believe that the land of which the Royal Fremantle Golf Course enjoys the use is actually Crown land vested in the City Council. Paradoxically, no-one at 'private' RFGC seems to mind walkers.

Former councillors include Ingrid Waltham (also former Deputy Mayor) 2011-2019, and Jenny Archibald 2017-2021. Waltham did not stand again in 2019. Dave Coggin was a Councillor from 2009 until he resigned in 2017, creating a temporary vacancy, which was filled by former councillor and mayor Jenny Archibald (who is also a past president of the Fremantle Society).

The only candidate in the 2021 election is the incumbent Jenny Archibald.

I don't have an official nor complete list to work from, but I can mention for your interest some previous councillors who have represented this ward. I'm assuming the year stated indicates the period January-October, as elections are usually held in the latter month, close to the end of the calendar year. This list may contain errors and does contain omissions.
