Kings Park
Kings Park is on Mount Eliza (Mooro Katta, Kaarta Garup, Gargatup) which was named for the wife of the (1825-31) Governor of NSW, General Ralph Darling. The land was set aside for a park in 1871/1890/1897 (increases in size), after first being logged! It was first called Perth Park, becoming Kings Park in 1901, honouring King Edward VII and marking the visit to Perth of George, Duke of Cornwall and his wife (later King George V and Queen Mary). May Drive was named for her.

The Edith Dircksey Cowan Memorial, formerly known as the Edith Cowan Memorial Clock, is the clock tower at the main entrance to Kings Park. It was built in 1934 as a memorial to Edith Cowan, the first woman elected to an Australian parliament. The committee responsible for the memorial had intended that a memorial be built in the Park, but the Kings Park Board declined the request.
