Josceline Amherst
Josceline Amherst was a barrister, politician, businessman, and a cricketer, playing for Marylebone Cricket Club (top score 7).
He was Private Secretary to Governor of Western Australia Frederick Broome, 1885 to 1887. He was a member of Western Australia’s first Legislative Council, nominated by Governor Broome in 1890. He had a property called Holmesdale at Darlington, and a vineyard at Smith's Mill, and was President of the Royal Agricultural Society. He never married.
Amherst Street is named after him.
