DAVIS, John Okey, b. 30.11.1808, d. 4.7.1894, son of John Okey & Frances Harriet, arr. 6.10.1829 per Lotus with parents, m. 17.2.1840 Eleanor Frances THOMSON b. 1819 d. 1.3.1883, dtr. of Robert & Caroline, she arr. 28.12.1831 per Egyptian. Chd. Barbara b. 1841 (or 1849) d. 1919, John Murray b. 1842, Frederick b. 1844 d. 1845, H b. 1846, Wallace Hepburn b. 1848, Eleanor b. 1850, Horatio Septimus b. 1852, Gertrude Caroline Octavia b. 1854 d. 1926, Maude Novena b. 1857. Appointed Schoolmaster at Frem. 1841, & later was clerk at Convict Establishment. Was Police Constable in 1853 at Guildford, where by 1856 he was the schoolmaster, postmaster & accountant. He had been agent for the affairs of William Tanner who died 1845.

John Okey Davis Snr's eldest daughter Frances Harriet married harbour master Daniel Scott.

Gertrude Octavia Frances Davis, daughter of John Okey Davis Jnr (and Eleanor Thomson, dtr. of Robert Thomson), married Frederick Pearse at St Matthew’s Church, Guildford, in 1875 (The Inquirer, 11 August 1875). They had eleven children.
