Joseph Hunter

HUNTER, Joseph, b. 1812 (Eng), d. 20.12.1877 (York), arr. 5.8.1829 per Calista, m. (WA) Mary GAFFNEY b. 1833 (Ireland), dtr. of John, she arr. 8.8.1857 per City of Bristol. Chd. John Henry b. 1859, John Henry b. 1864. He was indentured as a shepherd with Lautour's agent Wells. Later went into partnership with George Oliver & R. Kersley - dissolved 1847. He was then in partnership with Matthew Oliver & this was dissolved 3.1.1859 (I) possibly at time of his marriage. Listed in York Census 1859 as a well estab. farmer.
In the 1832 census, he is 25, from Sussex, brought by Lautour.
In the 1837 census, he is single, a shepherd on Joseph Harris's farm at William River.
