George Vancouver
Vancouver is better known for 'exploring' and claiming large areas of North America's northwestern Pacific Coast regions, but he did also drop in to Western Australia to claim an even larger area for the British Crown, the one million square miles of the western third of the continent called Australia. (He was the first of a series of people to make this claim by a speech act.) It rates only one sentence in his bio.
