George Willis

George Willis ran the Port Boot Mart on the corner of High and Market Streets from 1894 to 1927. There is a gas lamp in front of the shop. Photo c. 1895, ref. no. 1755.

Appointed Water Policeman in 1880s. Farmer at Jandakot. Owned house & land 47 Stirling St. Frem. Member of Frem. City Council 1899-1902 & of Frem. Rd. Bd. c.1903/7. Importer of shoes c.1895 & secretary to Pearse Bros. at their shoe factory. Had a sailmaking business supplying Broome pearling fleet. This was closed after his wife's death, she ran tea-rooms also in Adelaide Terrace. Visited England 1899 with dtr . Jessie .
