Government House

The construction of the vice-regal residence on Rottnest Island was begun in 1858, during the tenure (1855-62) of Arthur Kennedy, and enjoyed especially by John Hampton who was governor 1862-68. It was designed by Richard Jewell, the Clerk of Works, in Victorian Gothic style, and completed in 1864 by Henry Vincent.
