Point Street Slum

The southern portion of the block contained by Point, Adelaide, and Cantonment Streets is currently a carpark in two parts – one in a building and the other in the open where until recently there were shops and even an art cinema. The shops and cinema were demolished when Hilton proposed building a "DoubleTree" hotel on the site. That didn't happen.

Now an irresponsible developer is proposing to build a future slum building containing 220 dwellings for unfortunate people who can only afford 50 sqm of space in which to eke out their miserable lives.
